The Sacramento Century Challenge cycling event, a club signature fundraiser, is coming Saturday, September 28. PP Todd Koolakian unveiled the new cycling jerseys, outlined Sac Century’s importance in supporting the Crisis Nursery at Sacramento Children’s Home, and exhorted club members to engage as fundraisers, riders, and volunteers.

Featured speaker Chip Maxson, President of the Sacramento Rivercats, outlined the team’s thrilling, daunting challenges in bringing the Oakland Athletics to Sacramento for the next few seasons — juggling the A’s schedule with that of the resident Rivercats. The 2025 logistics are dizzying to host about 150 ballgames in 185 days, and a new artificial surface is getting installed that’s equal to the unprecedented burden. Could hosting the A’s lead to a major league team someday in Sacramento? Chip thinks just maybe.
